Cord blood banking is the process of collecting and storing stem cells from a newborn's umbilical cord and placenta after birth. These stem cells can treat various diseases including leukemia, lymphoma, and sickle cell disease. PDG Tom Kelchner and PDG Nick Giannone are spreading the word about this project which will save many lives. Doctors are having exciting results using umbilical cords to treat cancers and other medical conditions and our Rotary District is raising funds for a $300,000 Global Grant from Rotary International to establish a strong. foothold in storing stem cells.
